Educators for Tomorrow (Messiah University / MASD) Dual Enrollment + Internship

Educators for Tomorrow (Messiah University / MASD) Dual Enrollment + Internship

Does your future involve leading a classroom? Are you ready to take the plunge with beginning to build towards this career avenue? If so, this program is for you.

In this program, MASH students will complete a school based internship one semester and complete two Messiah University courses the alternate semester. Right now, Messiah indicates that these courses will be EDUC 203 Educational Psychology and EDUC 209 Principles and Structures of Mathematics. (While EDUC 203 is essential to this experience, it is possible the other course may be substituted by another Messiah Dual Enrollment course). Additionally students in this program will be invited to events on Messiah University’s campus, which will provide opportunities to engage with current education majors, faculty and/or alums who are professionals in the field of education.

Dual Enrollment credits from Messiah University count towards MASH credits for graduation and may also be transferred to another institution of higher education once they select the school students will attend as an undergraduate.

The School Based Experience (Internship) will be worth 1 credit and last one semester. Each student will select their desired level of placement (K-8 within MASD, 9-12 is not an option in this program). MASH students in this program will become a part of the regular classroom community for the classroom to which they are assigned. MASH students will visit this classroom at the designated time each day (typically the same time each day). Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their placement school.

Students interested in this opportunity should indicate both an internship and a dual enrollment interest on their course selection sheet, please indicate "Educators for Tomorrow." As we progress through the scheduling process your counselor will work with you in regard to time of day, semester, etc. with respect to your program.
